Dr Joey's passion for natural healthcare and nutrition has been the focus of her career for over fifteen years. Her philosophy of "improve the quality of your food to improve the quality of your life" has enhanced the health of thousands across North America. As a three-time national best selling author and well -known media personality, Dr. Joey is a highly regarded authority on weight loss, health and nutrition. As a highly regarded speaker, Dr. Joey has inspired and entertained large audiences in Canada and the US. Dr. Joey's clients include the likes of Nike, The National Post, Research in Motion, Cadbury, Loblaws, Longos and Nesbitt Burns. As the media's "go-to" on health and wellness, Dr. Shulman has been called upon to make hundreds of radio and television appearances throughout Canada and the US. In addition to being Cityline’s health and wellness expert, she has frequently appeared on Entertainment Tonight Canada, Breakfast Television, Steven and Chris show, CFRB 1010 radio and has been featured in countless magazines such as Best Health, Flare, Oxygen, The Post, Chatelaine and Canadian Living.

 

Dr. Joey founded Shulman Health and Weight Loss Clinics in October 2007. Since that time, the clinics have grown to be the #1 holistic weight loss centers in Canada. Her highly successful programs have helped thousands to finally lose their weight and reclaim their health. Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Joey graduated with an honors degree (BA) in Psychology. She then went on to graduate from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. When not working, Dr. Joey keeps herself healthy and energetic by exercising, practicing yoga and spending time with her two children and husband. Following her parent's tradition of family first, her favorite pastime is being at home with her loved ones.

FUN FACTS

 

Favorite time of day – Usually morning –my silent time where I can do yoga, mediation, cold water therapy (yikes! I know…but its amazing) and journaling.

Favorite animal – Hands down – my dog Rosie – I am obsessed!

Favorite food – Pizza –but…due to my sensitivities –I go gluten and dairy free (I have posted the most delicious recipe on this!)

One indulgence I will not give up – 1 cup of coffee per day!

Way to describe my food philosophy – Plant based delicious food with a mix of high quality fats and protein. I eat fish, eggs, nuts, healthy oil and seeds to get a lot of my proteins and fats. And…I hydrate like crazy!

Deepest gratitude – Too many to mention – my family, friends and being in natural health care are two for sure. But recently – Sick Kids Hospital Toronto detected a malrotation in my daughter –something that was life threatening. Her surgeon literally saved her life and I am forever grateful.

Wish for the future - That we all make major changes to how we treat the planet.

Hobbies – nature, reading, yoga, exercise and design.

Where I see myself in 10 years – With my family and still practicing as a natural health care practitioner in my clinics!
